HORSE HELP!!

ROOM 201 NEEDS YOUR HELP!!

As many of  you know the World Equestrian Games are coming to our area in less than a month. To help celebrate the games The Bluegrass State is having all kinds of fun events and activities. Many of you have been downtown Lexington lately and seen all of the beautifully decorated horses. One of our classmates took the tour of the Horse Mania horses and shared a few pictures with us. TAKE A LOOK:

Our class has been offered a chance to help participate in the events!! We have been asked to decorate a horse that will be auctioned off at an event hosted by Hospice of The Bluegrass on the night that the games open. The horses will be bid on and all of the money will be donated to help the local families of people in hospice care. I am excited to be part of this event and I know the kids will love it! .

So I am recruiting YOU! If you have any ideas on how we should decorate our horse please let us know! We have to have the horse finished by 9/23/10 and I would LOVE for the entire class to be involved in some way. If you would like to come in and help us we would LOVE that too.  I will be posting pictures of the finished product and the process, but I know many of you are very creative so let me know if you have ideas!!

Here is our horse! He/She needs a theme! HELP.
It stands about 12 inches by 12 inches tall.
THANKS!!

CLASS RULES

Things are moving right along in room 201! We have been busy learning about one another and getting into the swing of things in 3rd grade. As a class we made a list of rules that will help us stay focused throughout the day and learn all we can.  We wanted our list to include things that would make our classroom a safe, fun, inviting place to come each day. This is the list we came with:

And because I LOVE taking pictures, here are some of the rules in action!

2.Clean up after yourself!
This is HUGE for some of us, but we are working on it!

3. Eyes & ears on the speaker.

4. Be respectful to each other.

Another quality example of being respectful! :)

5. ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST!
This young lady did a great job following that one!

WE ARE WORKING HARD EACH DAY!
Come back and check on us often!!

FISRT DAY!!

Today was the first day of the 2010-2011 school year. We were all a little nervous and excited and we all made it through just fine! It is going to be a great year in room 201 and I am looking forward to getting to know each child's personalities. We practiced routines and expectations, worked on getting to know one another, we unloaded supplies, toured the school and learned our schedule. It was a wild day but I managed to snap a few pictures and assign some homework. The "homework" is a poster due by Friday and here are a few of the pictures for you to enjoy as a tiny glimpse into our day.

Day 2 should be a GREAT one!!
See everyone tomorrow.

One Week Away!!

The countdown has officially begun to the first day of school. Our first day is Tuesday, August 10th, which is in ONE WEEK!! I have been working hard to get our classroom ready for another crop of eager 3rd graders. This summer has been an exciting and relaxing one for me and I am getting very excited to meet all my new students and their families. I have never had a classroom blog before so this is a new adventure for me and I am excited to try it out. I hope it is a great addition to the year and it becomes something the whole class is involved in. So, as I am busy preparing the room, plans and all things back to school I have added a few pictures of our classroom and what I have done so far! Enjoy!!
